S Club Party…Almost 10 Years Later
S Club 7 have briefly reunited after almost 10 years since their split. With this news, plus the rumours that Steps may also be reuniting as well as JLo returning to no. 1, it seems likes its 2001 all over again!
S Club 7 are best known for their cheesetastic bubblegum hits like Don’t Stop Movin’ and S Club Party. In America though, they’re perhaps best known for their only top 10 Billboard hit, Never Had a Dream Come True.
You can view loads more reunion photos and find out what the bandmembers have been up to at the source, The Daily Mail. According to Wikipedia, three of them still perform together as S Club 3.
Fun fact…I remember buying a copy of their debut CD single Bring It All Back. Yes, you can laugh. It was an “enhanced CD” that came with the music video lol. Ah, the days before YouTube and iTunes. It’s funny though, I tried searching for the official video on YouTube/Vevo but apparently copyright has taken it off.
So instead, here is a video of people dancing to Bring It All Back in a nightclub:
Didn’t they have a TV show, too?
Kirstie Alley is 60?!
Kirstie Alley, best known for her roles in Cheers, Look Who’s Talking and perhaps also her cheesetastic masterpiece with Tim Allen, For Richer or Poorer, is currently competing on this season’s Dancing with the Stars.
Not only is she still naturally funny and likeable, Kirstie can dance!
But the biggest shock of all for me was finding out that she’s now 60 years old! I can’t believe it. Along with fellow Dancing castmember, Ralph Macchio, Kirstie Alley looks a lot younger.
I was looking at some of the related videos on YouTube and I stumbled upon this hilarious clip from the underrated comedy, Drop Dead Gorgeous. Her performance was really good in that movie and the cast was solid, it’s a shame the movie wasn’t any bigger. I mean, it also starred Kirsten Dunst, Ellen Barkins, Brittany Murphy, Denise Richards and Amy Adams.
Someone uploaded Gladys’ breakdown scene, too:
“Oh my god, it’s Cops!”
hahahaha

Christina Milian is a psychic
I googled to see if Christina Milian has ever publicly admitted to singing the chorus of JLo‘s Play…after that classic tune started playing on shuffle.
Instead however, I found this gem of a quote from the formerly popular singer/actress:
“One thing I do miss in music is the uniqueness, no one is that unique anymore. But it is hard to be different and to shock people. In the past Madonna was always changing her image and shocking people. But now that has all been done. You’ve got to do it right and go for it but everybody is trying to be sexy and wearing the same thing.”
This article was posted on 1 July, 2002, almost nine years ago! She was clearly highlighting the market gap to be later filled in by the likes of Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Rihanna and Nicki Minaj.
She must have good hindsight. This is the woman who had Kevin Federline featured in her AM to PM video way before he dated Britney. Christina even dated Nick Cannon way before Mariah Carey did, too. She’s an underrated pioneer!
And now she’s a has-been! What happened?
Also is it just me or have the following people just disappeared off the face of the earth:
- Blu Cantrell
- Shawn Desman
- Samantha Mumba
- Dido
- Michelle Branch
- Sally Polihronas, Scott Cain and the entire cast of Popstars minus Sophie Monk
- Nivea
- Las Ketchup
- Vitamin C
- Sorbolene Lotion
Okay, I made the last one up. But the rest of them are (were?) real and have not been heard of since Christina Millian was relevant. Yes, that is my new timeline milestone.
Positive Post of the Week: Anjelica Huston joins Smash
Good news. Screen icon Anjelica Huston will star in a brand new television pilot, reports Digital Spy. Kudos to her. The show in question is the upcoming NBC musical/drama series, Smash.
Debra Messing and Katharine McPhee have also reportedly signed on to the project. Steven Spielberg is an executive producer. This is all such great and meaningful information.
Here she is in 1990 at the Oscars. Doesn’t she look great? I wonder what she looks like now. Her brother Danny Huston is beside her. You know, he once starred in a movie with Nicole Kidman. What a coincidence, that’s just wonderful.
So there it is. All the best with the series, Anjelica. Shoot for the moon, even if you miss you’ll land amongst the stars. Beauty is the Mistress, the Gardener Her Slave. The grass is always greener on the other side. Carpe diem.
THIS HAS BEEN A POSITIVE POST – 50% SASS-FREE BUT 100% FULL OF LOVE. HAVE A NICE DAY, JUST LIKE ANJELICA HUSTON WILL BE HAVING I’D IMAGINE. WE CAN ALL LEARN A THING OR TWO FROM HER EXAMPLE.
Ciara vs. Rihanna – Feud of the Day
There’s a new bitter feud brewing today that could rival Nicki Minaj vs Lil Kim!
Making an appearance on Fashion Police alongside plastic surgery victim Joan Rivers, Ciara suggested that Rihanna “wasn’t the nicest” to her at a recent run-in:
It’s a far cry from the days when the two used to talk with each other on the red carpet:
If you’re wondering who this Ciara person is again, she was that singer who was huge in 2004 with her hits Goodies, 1,2 Step and Oh before her career considerably cooled down. She was also infamously the target of a cruel rumour that she was born a man and is popularly known on the internet as “C-Error”.
Rihanna immediately responded on Twitter:
“My bad ci, did I 4get to tip u?#howrudeofme“

Steps are allegedly reuniting!
Remember Steps? They were that cheesy 90s band best known for their annoying hit 5,6,7,8. They also released a spate of awful covers like Tragedy and Last Thing on My Mind while single-handedly desecrating one of Kylie‘s signature hits with their take on Better The Devil You Know. According to their Wikipedia entry, the band sold over 15 million records, 14 million of which were probably bought by Satan and thrown into the pits of hell himself since they were such heinous CDs.
Okay, maybe I’m being too harsh on them. Looking through their discography, I didn’t realise how groundbreaking they were. Here they are from their Deeper Shade of Blue video, rocking some sort of Avatar meets Lady GaGa look. They were truly ahead of their time, much like bandmate Lisa Scott Lee‘s 2005 electropop single Electric, which was obviously released four years too early:
Nicole Kidman, the Queen of Grammy’s 2011
The undeniable star of this year’s Grammy telecast for me wasn’t even a musician. At least, I wouldn’t count releasing that random duet with Robbie Williams as a fully-fledged singing career.
Nicole Kidman took time out from plotting a way to somehow upstage Natalie Portman come Oscar night to support husband Keith at the awards ceremony.
And she truly went to town, providing some of the night’s best moments. How does a movie star like her do the Grammys?
First you seek out another celebrity power couple on the red carpet and pretend to like each other. Nicole unfortunately couldn’t find a power couple, so she made do with Jennifer Lopez and Skeletor. Nicole gushes and gushes over JLo in the clip below, obviously consoling her Hollywood friend over the news that her new album will be released the same day as Britney Spears’.
But the star power just doesn’t end there! Here Nicole is happily posing for the camera with close galpals Willow Smith, Lady Gaga and Kim Kardashian:
New Look Leona Lewis
EDIT 16 JULY 2011: I’ve written a review for Leona’s hot new dance single Collide on my brand new blog Shock New Look. Click here to read it now! - Francis
Leona Lewis has been rocking a “fun” new look these past few weeks, probably in a bid to change her dull, boring image. Here she is at some pre-Grammy parties, the Justin Bieber movie premiere and a women’s charity function. Apparently she’s the one behind her new “LA look” and will design her Grammy dress for tonight. I’m guessing she’ll go for an outrageous top, a form hugging maxi skirt and pastel cream kicks complete with a bitchface pout to go with her bangs.
Several media outlets already speculate that Leona’s had a few cosmetic procedures (namely botox, a nosejob and breast enhancement) to go with her Katy Perry-esque makeover but I’m not sure myself. So what! Here’s Leona at the 2009 Grammys for comparison:
The Francis Fares First-Ever REGULAR OF THE YEAR Vote Opens Now!
All year round I’ve featured one “Regular” celebrity each month on my blog. Now, I’ve decided to open up a poll to find the “Regular of the Year”. Basically, it’s my poor, shallow attempt to one-up Barbara Walters and her annual “10 Most Fascinating People” list.
So forget the Grammys! Forget the Emmys! Definitely forget the Oscars – an award which even winner Helen Mirren once described as “the creme-de-la-creme of bullshit“!
You can vote as many times as you want, plus you can vote up to three people each time. Get your favourites in, okay? Plus, you can write in any other people you feel should be on that list too. Go wild!
Votes close on 1 January 2011, but this date may change at any time. Find the POLL on the right side bar…
